Dear
Selma and husband,
Godīs
peace!
I wrote a
letter the first week of April and I wonder if you got it. I wasnīt so sure of
the address. It was about the death of Jophn on March 30. He died from a heart
dicease. Yes, had he only visited a doctor he might have still lived. Buit we
didnīt succeed in getting him to go. The children as well as I tried in vain to
force him. He stopped working in 1949 and then he looked well and happy. We
went to Florida and he liked it. He talked about going back there but it never
happened. We also talked about going to Sweden and he thought of that. I told
him to go in April, but he didnīt answer to that.
Linnea,
our daughter, wrote to him to come and help them with the appletrees. They had
many that needed to cut the branches. So thatīs what he did and put them on
carriages and drove them away. So it was no heard work. He got sick in the
night the 25th and he died on Sunday after heīd had his dinner.
Lin
brought the doctor on Tuesday when he fell ill nd he was there 2 or 3 times a
day and also droppedby every now and then. I wasnīt there with him. I wanted to
clean a little when he was gone and he had planned to stay there until
Saturday. Then we used to go there when the apples were ripe to pick. I have
now been there for three weeks and helped. They wanted me to stay over the
winter but I still have my old house and I liked it best here. There it was in
the countyside and far from the city. They have to cars, he one and Lin one but
no tramway. Lin works for a laywer from 10 to 3 in the afternoon.
Yes itīs
so lonely without John. He was always so kind. And it looks worse and worse
since I came back home. Iīve been with my sister a time and ????? and the
Flodins. I think itīs so unfair that he should go before me. But my ways are
not your ways, says the Lord. He died in peace.. everybody who knew him loved
him. He has a very nice resting place and we out up a nice monument. He left 2
boys Alden and George, Anna and Lin and 6 grandchildren. Linīs daughter is 20
so she is the last year in university. Aldenīs oldest boy is 16 and the first
year in university. He got his school for free because he was the best student
among several hundreds in the univeriy where he studies. He skipped one year of
the high school.
I have
finnish now. Hope that you are all well. Let me get some lines from you.
Greetings from me and the children. Justin
PS How is
George and Bertil.? They were not in USA for a long time. but they are better
off in Sweden. Here the boys are drafted from 18 years of age.
