Great Grandpa Nils Peter Nilsson and Grandpa John Nils Nelson

In 1867 a revival broke out and Nils Peter Nilsson (about 17 years old) repented and became a praying sole devoting much of his time and strength to the service of God. He worked and prayed for blessings and watered his prayers with tears. Harvest came, the village of Norrebo had become an industrial place and the prayer house still stands in the middle of the village.

Nils had three daughters and a son. Jenny and Johan immigrated to America. Selma married S Norburg and they had 7 children. All of them have their families and have a good life. All the children are believers.

Nils died all of a sudden in 1902 - 52 years of age. Everybody grieved and they all missed him. It was said that now the best citizen of Gnosjö (the name of the place) has left. And when I come to Norrebo it is like coming to a holy place. I think of all the righteous prayers that have been prayed there and I think of all the tears he has shed for the salvation of sinners. The eternity will explain.

Earlier in the long writing he also describes how industrious Nils Peter and Johan Hugo, his brother, were. Both were inventive with farming activities and created new methods.

Johan Nils Nilsson, Nils' son, was of course involved in the daily work from early years. They had swamp like places in their land and Johan was involved in digging. This was quite a job and perhaps is why he chose to emigrate. We do not know how Johan financed his voyage to America. Most likely his uncle helped him. He had several uncles who emigrated by the end of the 19th century. And they were successful in the new country.

John Nils was referred to as a church leader and was the superintendent of the Sunday school. In his prayers he would start shaking when he prayed. The men's Sunday school class and also their weekly bible study is where he taught the Bible. A family member told of a traveling bible teacher who came to the church and had the opportunity to talk with John for about an hour. At the end of the discussion, the evangelist said that John knew more than him and urged him to become a full time bible teacher.
